The silvered dial is nicely fretted and the Roman Numerals are sharply engraved and black filled. The frame surmounted by a bell that is struck once on the passing of each hour. Covered by a round glass dome and mounted on a turned walnut base.

Condition Report: gut is worn and needs replacing, but was strong enough for a little wind and to show that the movement is running. Movement is held to a seat board via screws through bottom pillars, and that board is held in case with a single wood screw at bottom. Although case is quite old, it is probably not the original for this movement. Well engraved brass dial needs silvering. Object left side molding needs re-gluing. Still an attractive adaptation of a well made movement that will appeal to those attracted to mechanics. Movement plates measure 3 x 3.5in.

Condition Report: Chris and I spoke about the architectural top, and agree that although uncommon, it is the same age as the clock; it is not the first such top that Chris has seen. The sharp Gothic look was popular at the time; could be removed if you dislike it.. The signed wooden dial is all original with good signature. Interior Forestville label is excellent and complete. Mahogany veneer is in excellent condition with original finish. A modern metal hanger has been added to the top rear of the case.

Condition Report: edge and corner chips to case. Putto has an old patina. The porcelain dial has hairlines; There never was a bezel or front glass, so it was originally under a glass dome. The movement is stamped with serial number 52797 and "Chappelment Brevet " as well as a trademark featuring a bird with arrows. Movement runs but was not tested long term.

France, figural brass mantel clock, 8 day, time and strike on a pierced base with two short pillars supporting winged griffon figures in profile flanking a central cylinder holding an ornate brass dial with blued steel hands and white enameled cartouche numerals in blue, surmounted by a decorative urn. The pendule de Paris movement with partially exposed pendulum is stamped "CHLES MT".

France, Figural Mantel Clock with Electric Movement, patinated Belgian slate case with brass and spelter figure and decoration, a seated young lady holding grapes and feeding a large raptor perched on top of the black and gold dial with roman numerals and gilt spade hands, the lower section of the case with classical puti facade centering on a goddess profile, all on feet of claw and ball feet and central bracket, the movement now with antiquated electric movement.
