Clocks- 2 (Two): (1) Massachusetts, North Attleboro-style, 8 day, weight brass movement Patent or banjo timepiece; (2) Massachusetts, North Attleboro-style, 8 day, weight brass movement Patent or banjo timepiece. Based on the door latches these could both be timepieces made by Horace Tifft.
Estimate: $300.00 - $400.00

Condition Report: (1) Mahogany and mahogany veneered case in an original finish has a couple small corner chips. Original painted dial has some paint loss at the mounting pins and clear varnish overcoat. Original bottom tablet has lifting of the background and old repairs. The throat glass is a replacement. The wood sidearms and dial bezel have repairs. Top plinth looks to be a replacement; (2) Mahogany and mahogany veneered case in an old and possibly original finish. The veneer on the doors is fine except for a veneer repair on the throat. The period dial has some paint loss at 1 o'clock and may or may not be original to the case as there are extra holes in the head. Replaced minute hand. Throat tablet is a replacement. The bottom tablet looks to be original. The case has repair at the bottom door hinge and the bottom case sides from damage to the bottom board. Brass sidearms are thick and maybe a later addition as these clock cases are not usually found with brass sidearms. Dial door has a repair at the hinge and a shrinkage crack.

Original dial looks to have had the numbers relined. Period hands. The bezel has been shifted from its original position.

Condition Report: (1) The solid oak case appears to have been refinished some time ago. The time and strike movement is very unusual for a gallery clock but appears to be original to the case. The hands and door glass are both original. The original painted dial, signed Seth Thomas and also bearing the name "Waterbury" has flaking issues around the numerals 5 and 6; (2) The darkly stained case has very little, if any, finish remaining. The movement is very similar to that used in the number 11 and 12 hanging regulators, except with a short (12 inch) pendulum length, The painted dial has been covered over with a finish and the dial shows some discoloration. The hands appear to be original. The movement is signed. The door glass is original. There are two posts on the case back above the movement that suggest a wired connection to the movement.

Condition Report: (1) Mahogany case in original finish has repairs to the bottom board and extra screws at the throat sides to the hold the weight guide. Both tablets are replaced. Original painted dial has soiled areas and stains and some loss at the mounting pins. Nice engraved pendulum. Original hands. Movement mounted to the case with a center screw through the backboard. Unusual finial looks old, perhaps original. They were clockmakers at 63 Congress Street, Boston; (2) Model five Howard type timepiece in original grain painted cherry case in original finish has some scratches on the throat door and some damage on the bottom of the throat door. The bottom tablet looks original, while the throat glass is a replacement. Painted dial has loss at the mounting screws and some soiled areas. The dial looks to be original, but there are extra holes in the head. Hands are period and look original. Weight baffle is a replacement as there are slots cut into the throat sides for a longer weight baffle. Pendulum rod is replaced.

Condition Report: (1) Mahogany and mahogany veneered case in an old finish has veneer repairs on the bottom door and repairs on throat. Bottom bracket is a later made addition. Both tablets are modern replacements. Period iron dial has loss near the winding arbor and at the mounting pins. It appears to be original, but there are extra holes in the head. Replaced hands. The sidearms are missing; (2) Refinished mahogany and gilt case has some loss on the bottom bracket and and acorn drop. Both tablets are replacements. The period dial has some damage at the signature and someone has damaged it by drilling four screw holes. The dial is probably not original to this clock as there are slots in the dial for an L-turns that are not in the clock head. Finial is not original and too small. Plinth for the finial is a replacement.
